The structure and design of this course is two-fold;
- To provide participants, with no prior knowledge of this subject, to develop an in-depth understanding of Autism; this course is highly recommended for all new employees to the Health & Social Care Sector.
- And for existing social care practitioners who require their current knowledge base updated and enhanced further.
Course Aims
- An introduction to Autism; Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & Asperger’s Syndrome
- To explore causes, symptoms and diagnosis
- To explore the Legal frameworks and professional responsibilities for Health and Social Care Practitioners
- To examine the triad of impairment
- To understand and examine ways of working with people, with an Autism Spectrum Disorder; sensory processing and sensory integration
- Understand Positive Behavioural approaches
- To develop an understanding of cultural and social perspectives, and associated misconceptions

- Apply their knowledge and understanding to everyday practice; delivering person-centred and more therapeutic provisions of support.
